Hazards, Disasters, and Catastrophes (oh my)

  Hazards, Disasters, and Catastrophes The differences between the three are: That hazards are what potentially can happen in certain areas, when natural processes such as earthquakes and volcanoes that can become a threat to humans lives, health, environment and communities. Whereas, Disasters are what happen when that hazard occurs and effectively disrupts the normal order of living. Catastrophes are what happens when larger disasters take place and take many years and millions of dollars to recover from.
